End of April 2012

Wrapping up April, the best pro month of my life, with lots of writing/filming to come for May.

The recent successes (all within one damn week!):

-Playing tonight with the Bearded Men on an overnight remote in Northern MN. These guys not only have become some of my best friends in the Cities, but are the tightest, most cohesive narrative troupe I've ever seen. Supremely fucking excited to play with them tonight!

-Booked & recorded a series of Red Robin V/O spots, airing starting on Monday 4/30. If you see a Red Robin commercial featuring conjoined triplets, you'll be hearing me tell you about... burgers! With this, I can now build a full closet V/O studio in our new apartment, auditioning and recording from home. BIG step up!

-Wrapped up the latest run of Poivre, the Improvised Film Noire, last night at HUGE. Easily my favorite improv project I've ever been a part of, I'm sad to see it go (for now) but am so lucky to be a part of it. We have two shows in June - one with The 3rd Kind, and one as a feature at the Twin Cities Improv Fest!!!!

-Played in my favorite ComedySportz show to date this past Thursday for a packed house of... 30. No matter! My first chance to play with who I think are some of the most fun CSz performers, I'm really happy that I'm starting to find my stride and carve my niche in this troupe. Got a full weekend with them in May for the 11th and 12th; come and join!

Coming in May, I'll be writing my ass off with The 3rd Kind as we prepare to host the 10 Second Film Festival on June 9 as well as playing with the Beards and ComedySportz. As always, more to come!

Feb 2012

Man, it's been a bit since I updated this. Happy to say it's because I had a pretty great January, and Feb looks even better:

-Sketch comedy: Mondays in Feb, the 13th, 20th and 27th. My new sketch group, -The 3rd Kind, is debuting with it's show "Close Encounters with..." at the Bryant Lake Bowl Theater. Gonna get silly. Featuring Gay/Straight Alliance, Box & Ringo as improv guests, with Chad Martin, Bryan Miller & Corey Adam as each evening's stand-up comics. 7p each night. $12 at the door, $10 in advance or w/ Fringe button.

-ComedySportz: Sat, Feb 25th, y'all can catch me in my Comedysportz debut, in both the early (8p) and late (10:30p) shows. $12, $10 students for late show w/ I.D.

-Improv: How the fuck did I not update this before? Too much fun, I guess. I was invited to join "Poivre", the improvised film noir happening on Friday nights in January at HUGE Theater. Had 3 really great shows, and have already booked another for Poivre with The 3rd Kind at Honey NE in MPLS. Coolest improv show I've ever done.

-V/O: January saw more Sports Illustrated for Kids audiobooks, as well as a Yamamoto industrial around mid-month.

-Commercials: Shot one for Post-It notes today, and it may have been the best workday ever: 2 hours total, 30 minutes of shooting, and basically playing mad-libs with Post Its while dressed as a casual businessman (represent the Biz Cazh Punk!). Didn't even have to audition, thanks to my awesome agents at Moore.

The Best Buy commercial I shot in December, which at this point I was nearly convinced had simply been shelved since it'd been so long since we did it, has been airing all week. Apparently it's gotten up everywhere. It's been fun reconnecting with people who recognized me despite not seeing each other for ten-odd years.

Come see one of my shows this month! All of these have been in the works since November, and are going to be ridiculous amounts of fun.

Kick ass and be well!

Finishing the year with an Industrial, more Audiobooks and CSz rehearsal!

Oh man - never thought the Twin Cities would be as great to me as they have been!

Finishing the last week of 2011 in MN proper:

-Shot an industrial via Mojo Solo yesterday for a company called G&K, being an over-eager Sales Rep ("The profitability train goes Choo choo, sir!"). Again, thanks to Moore for setting me up so well!

-Wrapped my last audiobook session for the year today, with a couple more to come in Jan 2012. Hope they keep coming after that!

-Gonna have my next rehearsal with ComedySportz tomorrow night, before heading to Whitefish, MT on Thurs - where I'll be writing my new V/O studio business plan and coordinating for the drop of The 3rd Kind in January at the Brave New Workshop!

In January, I'll also be directing for the National Theater for Children again and filming lots for The 3rd Kind. Can't wait to share the goodness!!!

Kick ass and be well in the New Year, everyone!

More Best Buy + More Audiobooks + More HUGE = Best Pro Month Yet

-Shot another Best Buy commercial this past Wednesday, to be airing by the end of the month through football season. Look for me as a fantasy football guru without a TV during games - and paying off credit cards in reality! YEAH!!!

-Booked an additional audiobook session with Audio Ruckus, recorded on Thursday. Lots of ESL For Kids Stories via CapStone Publishing. I'll post links as soon as I have them!

-Performed in "Off-Book" last night, a half-scripted/half-improvised series of scenes @ HUGE, produced by my friend Emily Schmidt and rapidly becoming a Saturday night mainstay here in the Twin Citites. Be on the lookout for an additional date in January!

-Lastly, you can catch me doing 10 minutes of stand-up, TONIGHT!!!! @ The Nicollet Cafe's "Coffee and Comedy", it will start at 8p and is FREE. Join if you can!

Sketch shows from my new group, "The 3rd Kind," coming in January at the Brave New Workshop and in February at the Bryant Lake Bowl Theaters. More to come soon!

Celebrating Six Months in MPLS...with an audio-book V/O session!

I realized today, after a 24-hour span that included 2 separate V/O auditions, being on first refusal for another national Best Buy ad (should know by tomorrow), rehearsing with Comedy Sportz, going on a go-see for a print job, submitting to all the V/O agencies I'd want to work with in Chicago, and booking an audio-book session off of my demo (thanks to my agents at Moore)... that I've been here for 6 months now, to the date.

Fucking crazy. I knew it'd be a great move, but I had no idea it'd be this good, this quick.

Really excited to record a book-on-tape tomorrow. Even more excited to have signed the contracts for the first shows for my sketch group, "The 3rd Kind" - we'll have our January preview @ the O.G. Brave New Workshop @ 2605 Hennepin, and then our proper coming-out parties on Mondays in February at the Bryant Lake Bowl.

November 2011 has been the best month of my professional career, and December could easily top it. Get proper while you can.

3rd Kind @ The Improv-A-Thon @ HUGE!

Come see the improvisational debut of The 3rd Kind, my new sketch group, as a part of HUGE's Fundraising Improv-A-Thon for Give To The Max Day!

For The 3rd Kind:

9p - HUGE Theater, 3037 Lyndale (between Lake and 31st Sts.) in Minneapolis, MN
Please DONATE via our page, and admission @ the door is Pay-What-You-Can.

More about the festival and Give-To-The-Max Day...

Give-To-The-Max Day is Minnesota's annual donation drive for non-profits - including universities, hospitals, and of course...theaters! HUGE is the Twin Cities non-profit, long-form improvisational dojo, where my sketch group, The 3rd Kind, have all performed improv and contributed to at every opportunity. We're proud to be a part of this... and we have a financial incentive to raise as much as we can.

Not only are there donation matches and opportunities to earn even more once we reach our goal, but the troupe that raises the most will receive 6 free airline tickets as well as submission opportunities to sketch and improv festivals across the country. So by donating, you can help us reach beyond our Twin Cities and Interwebs - on to World Domination!

Please donate what you can via our page... and, anyone who donates $50 or more will receive a personal batch of my home-infused vanilla-apple-cinnamon bourbon! YEAH, ALCOHOL INCENTIVES!!!

And even if you can't donate online - join us for our show, and donate what you can at the door! Hope to see you there!
